Oversee the development and implementation of C&I in department. DC must supervise and evaluate the delivery of instruction in compliance with Board Goals, Board timeline pursuant to the Curriculum Equity initiative, and district/building policies and procedures for advancing student performance.
Supervises and Evaluates the Performance of Certified and NC staff Members
Essential Duties:
- Supervises classroom instruction at both campuses
- Helps teachers understand the special needs or problems of individual students
- Supports the professional development of staff members
- Orients new teachers in the content area, working collaboratively with district and building staff
- Plans, evaluates and oversees testing programs for assigned curricular area, including Common Final Exams
- Assists department teachers in the handing of day-to-day issues related to instruction
- Supports the introduction of instructional ideas and strategies to staff member
- Enforces personnel policies
- Follows district evaluation policies and procedures for assigned staff at both campuses
- Investigates concerns regarding employees
- Recommends for dismissal, tenure and job assignments
- Recruits, screens, hires, trains, recommends for hiring and assigns candidates
- Supervises and evaluates curriculum relates activities
- Coordinates the assignment of student teachers and observers within designated area
- Collaborates on a regular basis with district/building level curricular teams

- All courses at both schools have common fees, common textbooks, common resources, common anchor assessments, adn common final exams
- grading and parameters are the same throughout course teams
- curriculum guides include curriculum maps as well as standards, objectives, content, and skills that are to be covered in each course
- lessons and teaching approaches are straegiecally varied so students' needs are met regarlds of their academic starting point
- The Curriculum Equity goals and timeline esabtlished by the BOE are met
- A curriculum equity work plan is created
- Benchmark data as outlined in the curriculum equity timeline is reported

A. Instructional Supervision
Authority/Responsibility: Supervise all aspects of the instructional program
Representative Activities:
1. Implement and direct the Instructional Improvement Program for the department, including: observe non-tenure teachers and conduct observation conferences, observe tenured teachers, conduct interim conferences for tenured teachers and summative conferences, supervise professional development for tenured teachers
2. Assist in screening, interviewing, adn recommending certified and no-certified staff
3. Organize and conduct staff development activities
B. Program Management
authority/responsibility: Supervise and monitor all departmental operations
Representative Activities:
- Assist in development of master schedule by recommending course offerings, sectioning, scheduling of classes, teacher assignments, and room usage
- Determine instructional team leaders
- Coordinate teacher resource assignments
- Attend meeting of the Curriculum Leadership Team
- Meet on a regular basis with job-alike colleage in the District (JAM)
- Hold department meetings
- Coordinate substitute teachers assigned on a daily basis

C. Curriculum Management
Authority/Responsibility: Responsible for development, implementation, evaluation and revision of departmental curriculum.

D. Fiscal Management

- Monitor spending plans for supplies, capital, and travel
- Oversee repair, maintenance, replacement and inventory of all departmental equipment, technology, and supplies
E. School and Community Relations
Authority/Responsibility: Coordinate departmental communications between school and community and co-curricular activities.
- Respond to inquiries about departmental activities
- Confer with parents, teachers, counselors and students as necessary, including discussion of registration and of schedule change requests
- Coordinate and participate in special programs involving community and other agencies and resources, e.g. open house, parent conferences, curriculum nights, registration information presentations, special workshops and community programs
- Initiate or encourage publications of departmental activities and accomplishments, e.g. conference presentations, publication of articles, email news, website postings
- Work with the Activities Director to coordinate departmental co-curricular activities, as appropriate
- Coordinate field trips, guest speakers, and other opportunities to promote the discipline
- facilitate any departmental student recognition awards and scholarship programs and present at awards ceremonies
- Encourage use of department website to deliver important information to parents and students
